The pre-press and print production business is heavily influenced by technology, this is the point of our business. We always say ink on paper is our business, that is what we do, create artwork for print. Just in time artwork, just in time printing.

The web has changed the rules for many industries, breaking down cost and speed barriers and making execution of new systems that replace traditional artwork setting and type setting with online real time operation. This is particularly true of the adaptation of design, advertising and design for print and point of sale.

In the last 12 months StorePOINT has upgraded all of its systems to work with Quark and Adobe who have introduced new server based systems and now have a position where, using the Quark's Composition Server or InDesign Server you can create, instantly, on-line web based editing, page building and professional output.

Where no skills are needed

De-skilling of the setting and adapting process allows shorter lead time, lower cost and faster turnaround. On demand or distributive systems that are browser based where all the user needs is web connection and keyboard skills. A Point and Click position on artwork for print. Now the amend and approval of marketing collateral is simple for all to do. That is why we call our systems StorePOINT and PointandGo. Users can literally point-and-go to advertise, build a catalogue or with StorePOINT create store specific point of sale using either our StorePOINT application or our on-line systems.

That's why today all of our systems are moving to web based delivery. So if you are reading this section and are confused about all this jargon here are some simple phrases that try to explain what this all means. Later we will also be describing opportunities we feel may be with us in the next few years.

Artwork: In our terms is a StorePOINT or Quark or InDesign Document with images and text with styling that can be edited or adapted to fit any user requirement from a poster to a magazine advert or Leaflet and in any language. QuarkXpress: Once the defacto page make up package today Quark and InDesign share the page layout page make up market.

PDF: Our final file delivery is in PDF although this is always backed by the InDesign or Quark master for that PDF iteration. Admin users always have access to the original and the adapt in the native file format.
